OE6 now opens in the last identity used
I have several identities for outlook express 6 on my computers. Until recently when I opened OE it opened in the main identity but now opens in the identirty last used. In manage identities the open in is ticked and all identities are set to main identity. This has only occurred since adding an identity for hotmail. My laptop still behaves correctlyAny thoughts pleaseAlbie1 person needs an answerI do too

I don't use the Identities feature much, but its my impression that it is normal for it to open up to the last used Identity. When you say "all identities are set to main identity" then does that mean they all have the same name? Try renaming them to give each a unique name and see if that has any effect. Each identity does have a unique name. In manage identiies the screen shows all identities and below these is a box which one can select "use this identity when starting program" and below this a box where one can select the required idenity as can be seenhttp://albiefield.co.uk/oe%20identities.jpg Previously opening OE always opened in Main identity. I would guess that the setting didn't stick until you rebooted, but I don't know why. steve "albyefield" wrote in message news:c16c0625-bde4-4b91-88aa-25202c793d4d...Just to let you know that OE has returned to normal. I don't ******** believe it!!!!It's happened again, however the same remedy worked again, here's hoping that it stays this time.I have also found an alternative solution, log off and exit gives me a choice of identities next time OE is opened. Still no problems on Laptop though.A thought Laptop is XP Home Desktop XP ProAlbie

If you are still having problems, I would try this next. Create another identity. Import all your messages and contacts from the default main identity. Make this identity default to open and to replace the main identity and test it. When you are sure it is accepting messages, delete the default main identity.Do not use the word Main in any identity you create.Bruce Hagen ~ MS-MVP [Mail]
