Nowhere to enter password for a minute or so?
Hello, I have a small group of folks testing Windows 7 Enterprise in my organization and all of us are seeing the same issue with both laptops and desktops (all different hardware configurations). I am hoping someone here can help shed some light on this. Our Win 7 Enterprise PCs are connected to a SBS 2003 domain and are doing great. There is some sluggishness though that is not well understood. One example is after hitting CTRL-ALT-DELETE to log on, we do not see the user picture or password entry box for about a minute or two. Users cannot login until the computer decides to show them where to enter thier password. Any advice on how to stop this from creating a delay and get the password box to show immediately?James Nelson

Thanks for the reply. I'm glad it isnt only us. I was surprised that Google searches came up empty on this one. I timed a few computers this morning and the one that made us wait the longest went 34 seconds before showing the password box with the other computers varying some but never under 11 seconds before the box popped up. I did learn however, that if you "pretend" the box is there when it isnt, and just type your password into the system, even without the box there, it will acceptthe passwordand log the user in. This being said, I'm not sure if this thread was moved to the correct forum as I do not think it has to do with networking.James Nelson

This appears to have been repaired with a reliability update for Windows 7. I can no longer repeat the issue.James Nelson
