Not your usual WIndows 7 cannot see networked XP computers
I have upgraded a win7 home premium x64 to ultimate using one of my technet licences. I have installed win7 ultimate x64 from scratch on another computer. I have 2 x NAS and some XP computers acting as print servers etc. All firewalls disabled. I can only see the two WIN7 computers in the network (no homegroup, workgroup name is same across all computers) on the win7 x64 upgraded to ultimate. I can connect via IP address to the other XP and NAS using \\<IP addr>. This computer is wifi through bridge to Router. I cannot see XP computers via netbios names in normal network window. I can see all computers and NAS NETBIOS names on the computer I installed WIN7 x64 ultimate from scratch. I can see all computers etc from XP computers Network window whether they on wifi bridge or hardwire LAN to switches / router. I have tried all sorts of things including NTLM auth, but nothing lets me see the XP computers NETBIOS names in the network window of wifi the computer upgraded from home premium to Ultimate. I installed lltp responder on one XP computer and it does show up in network map of upgraded win7 computer, and I have tried all sorts of other things including NTLM auth, but nothing lets me see the XP computers NETBIOS names in the network window of wifi the computer upgraded from home premium to Ultimate. What the heck is going on? Thanks.

I have already looked at that link, it does noty help me. I think it is something to do with home premium, sine i remember this problem before the u/g to ultimate. I'll trueimage the computer as is and then install from scratch like the other computer to see if I can then see all devices on the network.

Well, I re-installed the complete win7x64 ultimate from technet DVD on the computer which had been upgraded from WIN7x64 home premium to Win7x64 Ultimate, and lo and behold, I immediately can see all devices on the network. Go figure!
