What process is spawning? What version of Windows are you running, 32 bit or 64 bit? Was this upgrade or a fresh install?Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

Hello,Does the problem only happen with iTunes or MSN. If yes, I recommend you reinstall these two programs. Certain background problem may be affecting with your system, so some applications will not launch properly. Try to boot the computer to clean boot mode and to see if the issue persists:Clean Boot================1. Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. Thomas77

The process for the application...so it must be running "somewhere" as it is resident in memory.Do you think this might be x64 compatibility issues? it seems itunes for example runs in 32 bit mode.

Hello,Itunes 9 is compatible with 64 bit version of windows 7. If your PC has Itunes 9 installed, I think it may not be a compatibility issue. Have you tried to reinstall it? Thomas77

It could be that the windows are opening, but off-screen. Check my suggestion in this thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com:80/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/22546ea1-01d4-476e-afbc-f9b1c04720fe#5b711c17-ecca-4cdc-81c8-e54e79943aaa -Noel
