Not able to connect to Windows 7 Pro computer in Server 2000 environment
Recently added my first Windows 7 computer to the windows Server 2000 environment. Adding to domain; no problem, accessing files, folders and printers; no problem, pinging server and other clients; no problem, seeing other clients in my network places; no problem. Problem; trying to access the Windows 7 computer from server, clients or applications. Tried to ping from the server; no reply, tried pinging from clients; no reply, tried viewing in my network places; no success, tried scanning with Total Network Inventory; nothing doing. Checked and Network Discovery was turned off, thought that would solve it, still no go. There is absolutely no problem with the computer interacting in the 2000 environment, but managing it from the server or from other network locations becaome impossible with this issue unresolved. Since the Windows 7 computer appears to be able to access network resources, its network configuration is probably set correctly. However, if you would like to post the results of IPCONFIG /ALL for that Win 7 computer, we can take a look. I would recommend that you take a look to see if the Firewall is enabled on that computer and if so, you'll have to make the necessary adjustsments to allow for inbound communication to be allowed (if you require that FW to be turned on). Hi, Please disable the firewall for a test first. Then I would like to advise that to share files between Windows 2000 and Windows 7 is same as sharing files between Windows XP and Windows 7. So please refer the following link to setup it. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-7/share-files-and-printers-between-windows-7-and-xp/ Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support.
