Not able to access shared drive
I am not able to access network shared folder all of a sudden. I am able to ping these machines from my Windows 7 PC and able to access the same shared folders from other systems. In fact it worked from Windows 7 system too but I not able to trace why it stopped working. Following error is thrown: Window cannot access \\10.10.130.34 Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve problems, click Diagnose. Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found

Hi, May I know the operating system of other computers? Are the computers in a domain? Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Check if you can ping other computers from the Windows 7 computer with IP Address or computer name. 2. If you have installed some security software (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.) on this Windows 7 computer and the target computer which hosts this share, please also temporarily disable or remove it and check if it works. 3. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP: 1) Go to “Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections”. 2) Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties. 3) Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4” in the list. 4) Click Properties, and then click Advanced. 5) On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to “WINS” tab. 6) Under NetBIOS setting, click “Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP”, and then click OK. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

Thanks for the response. The operating systems of other systems is XP. As I stated in my first message, I was able to access the shared location from my Windows 7. I tried the 3 options as suggested by you -> I am able to ping other computers -> Disabled firewall -> Selected the option "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP" I even restarted my machine but still it didnt work.

Hi, Thank you for your update. At this time, please try the following: 1. Disable simple file sharing on the Windows XP computers: How to disable simple file sharing and how to set permissions on a shared folder in Windows XP 2. On the Windows 7 computer, go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings” and ensure that the following items are turned on: Network Discovery File and printer sharing And this one is OFF: Password protected sharing 3. Boot the computer to clean boot and check how it works: How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7 In addition, please check if some other computers can access the Windows 7 computer’s share folder. I'm experiencing the same issue and have tried the above mentioned. pc1: XP Pro (fully updated) pc2: Windows 7 Home Premium (fully updated) A few days ago, I WAS able to connect to my XP share from my Win7 laptop. And vice versa. Now, I can VIEW and connect to Win7shares using XP but Win7 won't view XP. - Win7 CAN ping XP IP AND the PC name - No antivirus apps have yet to touch this brand new Win7 laptop. - No modifications have been made to the laptop since Win7 to xp Share stopped working. - They ARE on the same workgroup name. - Here is a nice kicker: Win7 will NOT let me change the workgroup name (its greyed out). This hold true even if workgroup is turned off on Win7. - Tried connected via wireless and wired = no go. - Changed routers = no go *edit* Network ID still greyed out but I can change workgroup name by using the computer name change area. I have changed both workgroups from Workgroup to Geekgroup and still no go. Tips? Suggestions? Here is something odd: - Start, Computer, Network does NOT display shares... - But, through working on my PC (trying to open an un-associated file), I noticed that the "OPEN WITH" area DOES display my network share to XP (When I'm using Win7Prem). So, the problem is not with the share itself but with the Computer / Network area!?!
