Not Finding My Netgear Wireless USB-WG111 in Windows 7
I installedWin7 using Virt.PC 2007-SP1 on my host PC (running WinXP Pro-SP3) yesterday 6/23/09. Under XP, Ipconfig /all shows:IP Address as 192.168.0.111 w/Subnet 255.255.255.0 and Gateway Address 192.168.0.1 (from my home network)Under Win7, Ipconfig /all shows: IPv4 Address as 169.x.x.x with Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0 and no Gateway Address (blank) and shows DHCP Enabled=Yes. My Netgear USB-WG111 Adapter works fine under XP-Pro, but Win7 does not even recognize it, soI installed the Netgear software on Win7, but no luck.Win7 "Networking and Sharing" shows "Unidentified Network"with No Internet connection.I cannot seem to find where to change or hardcode theIP Addresses in Win7, IF THAT IS NECESSARY(?).Without Networking capabilities I am very limited, especiallywithout Internet access.Any or all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. goto Internet Protocol Ver4 Tcp/Ipv4 properties. click on alternate Tab click on user configured enter ip address 192.168.0.119 subnet mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.01 enter appropriate DNS numbers given by your ISP save and go back to desktop restart windows and you should be online. By the way the results from you IPconfig /all indicates the router configuration is corrupt. Reconfigure your router. IPaddress starting with 169. usually indicated router setting corrupted. good luck
