No wireless internet connectivity
I purchased a newlaptop with Windows 7 preinstalled.I had some problems with internet connectivity and contacted the company's tech support, who took remotecontrol of the computer and gotme online. However,as soon as I inplugged thehard wire from the cable modem, I lost connection with the interneteven thoughmy computerrecognized that Iwas connected to the internet. I have reset my router/modem (Netgear, supplied by Comcast about 1-1/2 years ago) a few times without success and always have to reconnect to the internet with the cable. My olderlaptopruns Windows XP Pro and doesn't have this problem.Could thisbe ahardwareissue, or a glitch in Windows 7? I have searched the forums and have found what sound to be similar problems but the language is above my head :( Any suggestions (geared to a non-technical user) about this issue would be appreciated.

Hi, Here are some suggestions you can try: 1. Bypass the router and connect to cable modem directly for a test. Can you access Internet via wired cable now? Ifnot, please let me know.Otherwise, please upgrade the router firmware and then connect to router again. 2. Temporarily turn off firewall on the machine and router (If it has). 3. Upgrade the NIC driver. 4. Restart the computer to Safe Mode with Networking to check the result. What's the result now? Thanks, Novak
