No sound when using two RAMs
hi i have this weird problem. OS: Windows 7 64-bit Motherboard: ASUS M2A-VM earlier i had 1GB 667 MHz RAM of transcend which was working fine. i upgraded to 2GBx2 (total 4GB) 800 MHz RAM of kingston. but when i boot up, windows says "No audio output device is installed". to get sound back, all i have to do is simply remove one RAM so that existing RAM on my pc now becomes 2GB and sound is back! i have tried putting the two pieces of RAM in combination in yellow sockets, black sockets and yellow-black sockets. but sound is available only if any one piece of RAM is used (in any socket). i am unable to understand how RAM and sound are related!? should i update my BIOS? surprisingly, Ubuntu 9.04 can play sound with two pieces of RAM but windows 7 can't! can someone please help?

Hi, I would like to suggest you update the BIOS, the motherboard chipset drivers and the sound card driver for Windows 7 first. If it does not work, you may open the Playing Audio troubleshooter. In addition, you may also read: Tips for fixing common sound problems to troubleshoot the issue. What’s the result? When you had only one ram socket taken with the new kingston memory unit did you also try both of the new units seperatly in that socket - to see if one of the new memory modules is defective?

the problem seems generic. this is the side effect of BIOS update. my machine: both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04 dont recognise my iPod. but Ubuntu 10.04 detects a normal USB drive but Windows 7 cant. another machine (Ubuntu): my iPod is recognised. so problem is not with my iPod/USB drive but BIOS update. can anyone help in this?
