No sound, at all!
Alright so. I just got a new case and swapped everything over to it. Now I have no sound. I mean nothing. Everything is connected just fine, driver is updated, have rolled it back and tried, still nothing. No luck. What is going on?!?!?

No Sound (looks like you did the first two already) 1) If you have external speakers - are they connected properly to the computer? If they need power are they plugged in? Are they turned on? 2) Have you installed the newest audio drivers? If not download them from the manufacturers website or try to run Windows Update - that might include the generic drivers for your sound device. 3) Have you set the correct sound device? Click Start, type: sound. Then click Sound under Control Panel. Then set the default sound device. More options: 4) Is the sound device disabled? A. Right-click the speaker icon on your taskbar B. Select "Playback Devices" C. In the white empty space right click and select both Show Disconnected/Disabled Devices D. Do you see icons for your speakers and headphones now? E. If you now see it you may need to right click on the correct sound device and select "Set as default device" 5) You can also try the troubleshooter below to discover any connection issues that may exist, instructions are below: A. Click 'Start' > Select 'Control Panel' B. Type troubleshooting in the top-right search field > Select 'Troubleshooting' C. Click 'Hardware and Sound' > Select 'Playing Audio'. 6) Also go through the two pages below: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Tips-for-fixing-common-sound-problems http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/no-sound-in-windows Low Volume (or no volume): There are many different places to adjust the sound. Are all of these turned up? 1. On the speakers, or if you have a laptop there might be a sound adjustment nob somewhere. 2. On the program you are using to play music/video. 3. Next to the clock on the bottom right of the screen there is usually a sound icon you can click. 4. In the Control Panel under the Sound section. Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Adjust System Volume. Have Questions About Installing Windows 7? FAQ - Common Windows 7 Installation Questions & Answers

None of that did anything. The two links that you posted I had already visited :/ 90% of what you suggested, I have already tried and the other 10% that I didn't try earlier, I tried now, and still no luck....

Hi, Please open Device Manager to check the status of this sound card. If it states that this device is working well. You may check whether it have already detected a Playback device in Sound icon of Notification Area. If there is any device in it, the sound card should work properly, you need to check whether the speaker is turned off. Also, what kind of error message did you get when you tried sound troubleshooting tool? Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I reverted to a 20th August restore point and hey presto my sound was back. Could it be associated with the 23rd August update?

Hi, Based on my experience, I do not think the Update is the cause. There are lots of elements that can cause this. First, you need to check whether the driver works properly and provide more detailed information such as exact error message. Since you have already used System Restore to return a working state, I will mark your reply as "Answered". If you have further question about this, please feel free to let me know.
