No opportunity to set Username/Password when setting up http network place (for upload to Frontpage site)
Just upgraded to W7 Home Premium and trying to restore a shortcut I had (in XP) to upload files to a (Frontpage) website. I can use the network location wizard to make the connection to the http://address but I do not get the login screen that I get when doing the same in XP. (I do not get the login screen in Vista either.) The network place folder gets made, but I can't upload to it...Help?

This issue should not be caused by Windows. I suspect that there is design problems on the website side. You may submit this issue to them and suggest them to discuss it in our SharePoint forum. SharePoint Products and Technologies CategoryArthur Xie - MSFT

But it still works fine in XP. And didn'r Windows (starting with Vista) change the default Basic Authentication for connecting to http sites? Yes, there is a "problem" with the website design; its called "Frontpage"... it's extensions don't support FTP upoads! But I can no longer map a user/password upload folder in Vista or W7 that still works the same as it always had in XP. If that's not a Windows issue, I don't know what is.....

It does NOT work in win 7, it is not a "website side" issue.I can not speak for Vista myself, only what my customers have told me.You CAN use the FTP and get a box to input user and then password box when connecting.but with Http:// it is if the system check that the domain is there but nothing else.Just a question...why do you not use the publish function in frontpage?? I ASSUME it is still there...(I use Dreamweaver / coffee cup and do not do "frontpage" sites myself)

Just a question...why do you not use the publish function in frontpage?? I ASSUME it is still there...(I use Dreamweaver / coffee cup and do not do "frontpage" sites myself) We might have to... I've just been trying to avoid loading Frontpage on the sanctuary computer. It was a simple drag-and-drop before....
