No network connectivity
I've been using 7 since day after it came out, no networking issues at all until this morning. All network connectivity is completely gone. Tried using 3 different cables, 2 different routers; simply put, 7 won't recognize that I've connected the PC to a network, doesn't even give me an error message. I'm using onboard ethernet on an Nvidia nForce motherboard using drivers that 7 apparently installed for itself. I'm actually posting this from an old Vista laptop on the same network, and all the other computers in my house are having no issues connecting to my home network. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem with onboard ethernet. I'm running a Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6 board with 2 onboard ethernet adapters. They worked fine the day before running vista. After updgrading to windows 7 beta they don't work. The link light goes off during windows 7 boot screen. I've tried booting in safemode networking and the same thing happens during the driver load process. Windows 7believes the ethernet cable is unplugged but it isnt. I also unistalled the drivers and reinstalled. Searched for other drivers and even uninstalled the adapters and let windows reinstall them. I had to resort to a usb LAN adapter to get connected back to my network.

I'm having a similar problem with Win7 killing the Nvidia NICs on my nForce 680 SLI motherboard (Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6). The LEDs light solid yellow and require a full (yank the chord) power re-cycle to bring them back, after which they will work fine under Vista.Luckily the two Marvel-based NICs still work. This has happened since first installation using build 700, so i guess the driver shipping on that disc has problems.

Same issue with nforce4 Mainboard here. First network worked well, after 3 days network-centre reportet issues about the ipv4 config. Made a systemrestore, worked well. Made some restarts, worked well also, ipv4 connectivity was given. Restarted the machine the next morning, same issue. No ipv4 connection. any suggestions ?

I had the same problem on an 790i (Asus Striker II Extreme) and was at my wits end, what resolved my problem was to connect to the ethernet 1 connection as opposed to the etherenet 2. I know on other boards the 2 network connections are different however on mine they are theoretically the same, so imaging my surprise when I went from a system disconnecting every 2-3 mins (sometimes sooner if trying things like skype) to one where the network connection has been absolutely solid. It seems very strange, however I thought that I'd best share this nugget of oddity in the hope it helps someone else

Well, unsurprisingly, I rebooted my W7 machine, and the problem magically disappeared*... I wish I knew what had caused the problem though. I notice that the problem seems to occur in Nvidia onboard ethernet, so I assume it's drivers that are causing the problem. Not gonna mark fixed, because you lot are still having the problems.*Windows problems, am I right?

Try unchecking theInternet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) in your network settings,,, this fixed mine.

Hi Buddies, From this thread we could find that this issue specially occurs on nForce chipset motherboards. Since Windows 7 beta is a test version, the manufacturer has not release the new device drivers in time. We could not download the new driver for Windows 7 beta and the compatible drivers are also not built in Windows 7 beta. I believe that in future the manufacturer will upgrade their product driver.Arthur Xie - MSFT

I have a Nvidia Nforce Networking Controller that isn't working with Windows 7. I had to find an old SMC 10/100 fast ethernet card that I had buried in a closet for the 90's. So I disabled the on-board NIC and used this SMC NIC. The SMC NIC detected and just worked without any problems. So Microsoft or Nvidia needs to write a good device driver for the Nvidia Nforce 1/2 ethernet cards.

Arthur Xie - MSFT I havean ASUS K8N mobo with a NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller which would not connect under WIN 7 64 bit which I tried first or under WIN 7 32 bit which I tried after that (individual partitions multibooting on my desktop). In both cases the error message was that it could not find a Wireless Network Adapter although my connection from the PC to the internet is wired (althought through a WRT54G wireless router but the desktop is not on the wireless element). Since the network adapter is working fine in VISTA 32 I decided to get the more recent version of the network driver on my mobo CD and installed that on WIN 7 32bit. After that I ran the troubleshooting wizard and it found and installed the network adapter fine and I now have a network connection. Of course 64 bit wants signed drivers and I don't have those ..... FWIW -- similar experience with my Adaptec SCSI controller feeding my HP SJ5P scanner. Installed software that worked under XP and VISTA and WIN 7 32 did the rest for the scsi controller. In general so far I would say that WIN 7 32 bit is very tolerant but not good at finding drivers! PS Does anyone know if this newsgroup has a NNTP Port so I can use my off line newsreader?Hugh

I have just installed Windows 7 Beta and when looking in Device Manager, wireless card is functioning very well, but none of the wireless Networks appear. Therefore I cannot connect to any networks. There must be a huge Bug here, and without Network Connectivity, there is going to bea huge hole in testing capabilities.

Open Services and try stopping and starting "Wired AutoConfig"and "WWLAN AutoConfig". In my case they were already started, and I could see my SSID, but could not connect to my wireless router until after I stopped and started WLAN. Hope it helps.

Was working fine for a week or whatever (installed Win7 the day it came out) now suddenly nothing. Reboot into XP and everything is fine. I am not on Nforce - using Asus mb, Intel P45, with Atheros LAN.

Windows doesnt like driverless hardware.

Same issue here, for a month now. And I'm using Gigabyte P31-DS3L, with an Intel chipset and a Realtek RTL8168/8111 LAN.
