No network access - Vista upgrade to Win7, Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gig card
Hi folks I have been trawling through the site and have followed a lot of leads but still not resolved. Issue Upgraded to Win7 from Vista (did not clean install) - 32bit Originally got both a public and 'unknown' network both on the same card Fixed that by installing the Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gig driver off Marvell (didn't fix), turning off IP6 (didn't fix), turned off auto speed (didn't fix), after two reboots and removing the network cable and replugging it after boot into Win7 - fixed to a degree -Icanconnect to the internet Now I cansee 5 of the 7 computers on thenetworkbut the only locationthat can be accessed is an XP share folder on one of the pc's. 1 Vista comp returns a "Windows can not access \\Computer" error code 0x80070035, another Vista box sometimes comes up with a login screen (twice in around 40 attemptes) otherwise same as first pc, it sees but can not access a Thecus server - same issue as other 2 comps, it does not see another Win7 box which can access all locations successfully (uses Realtec adaptor) or a Vista laptop. Comments: I have tried to access shared drives through their IP address, e.g. \\192.168.1.100\music - without success I can access the mediaserver on the Thecus via a port, e.g. \\192.168.1.100:9009 My assumption is that it is the Marvell adaptor - all observations and comments greatfully received.

The driver I'm using was automatically installed by Windows 7 (build 7100, 64 bit). All configuration settings are at default. No homegroup has been set up. I have turned on file sharing, and also disabled password protected sharing. Each computer is assigned a static IP, and when I need to access shared drives I enter their IP address directly eg. \\192.168.0.83 Can the other computers see you? Does Windows 7 show your network as Home or Public? Do the other computers show the network as Home or Public?

Do the other computers show the network as Home or Public? 1- All the Vista and the XP boxs do but can not access it - the other Win7 does not see it 2- Home 3- Home They can all see the other Win7 computer and get a login dialog box Funny you should mention you are running the 64bit as it was mentioned that the Marvell in 64 seems fine by a work friend (same as you) PS - sorry for the delayed response (work etc) and thanks for suggestions

It would probably be wise to do a clean install. Upgrading to Windows 7 RC is not recommended. It is possible this is (or is part of) your problem

Hi Adam and Sticky It's been a week since your last feedback and have since done a clean install of a 64bit Win7 and all is working fine - getting both internet and all PCs on the network. As such I don't know if the clean install or the 64bit version was the fix. In fact I got a new router and gig card but put them in after testing out the clean install - all up now I have the two gig cards (Realtec and Marvell) bound and everything is purring nicely. Thanks for your suggestions guys, much appreciated.
