No log on screen, no welcome screen, just auto logs on as administrator. If I log off, then I see welcome screen... but I want to see the welcome screen - or a log on. Either way - just not auto login!
Hi, using Windows XP Professional, SP3. Have had to set up a second user on computer. Have turned on the "Use welcome screen" option in user accounts but when the computer is turned on, it still logs in automatically to the original administrator account. If I log off, then the welcome screen appears and I can go into the other user but I need this welcome screen to come up straight away. I've tried the "control userpasswords2" in the run box (like I've seen suggested elsewhere in the forums) but I get a message that says "Windows cannot find 'control'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, then click Search." I haven't done that, as I'm not sure I won't mess something up if I find the wrong 'control' file... Help? Please?1 person needs an answerI do too

Try using the TweakUI power toy then. It's free. In the autologon section you'll see where you can disable it.Power Toys - http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspxMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
