No ip address since computer crashed
I am having a problem with my computer. It was running vista home when it crashed and could not be revived. I had a windows xp home recovery so it recovered windows xp home. Now I have no ip address and have no idea how to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated. Also would a new operating system such as windows 7 the full version would it recover these problems? Thanks for any help

The IP address is normally assigned dynamicallly by the ISP. I suggest you contact your ISP and tell them your problem and ask for their assistiance in getting you setup again - it sounds like your network settings aren't correct and they can help you select the right ones and get you up and running again. I don't think it's a problem with Internet Explorer (at least not at this stage). Please contact your ISP to help you get setup and I thinkk that will resolve the problem. Make sure they also help you setup IE to work properly with the ISP (I'm sure they'll help you with that too). When you hang up you should be good to go. I hope this helps. Good luck! P.S. I don't think Windows7 would resolve these problems because I'm all but certain they are setup and configuration problems with connecting to the ISP.
