No internet connection with Vista 64 bit
Hello I have some strange problems, and I hope, someone is able to help. Here is the story: I have a PC which originally was purchased without OS. I bought Vista Ultimate 64 bit at the same time. Install went fine, but no I-net conn. Then I bought 32 bit home premium: Internet worked from day one. I then ordered the 64 bit version of Home Premium, and installed it on HD 2 ( multiboot ). No internet connection !. System:ASUS P5N-E SLI motrherboard, Intel E6600 Core2Duo CPU. Gigabit Erhernet card, 4 GB RAM. Router D-Link DI4300 gaming router, Internet: DSL. I have tried to ping the router: no answer or one answer with very long response time. The PC gets the IP from the router allright. I cannot see other PCs on the home network. I cannot see the router in the network. I have tried with and without SP1 RCA of Vista. All drivers and firmware updates has been made. I have tried to manually setup WINS and DNS. I have tried to disable the Pvp6 TCP service. A million times tried to repair the conn. reset the network card and so on. Often the network is on a position of "identifying"..... Of course I have activated Network sharing in the network control panel. Nothing works - no conn in 64 bit. What can be wrong??? Thx Jesper Kristiansen

No - I do not think so.I think it has something to do with settings / permissions in the 64 bit version, but I cannot figure out where the problem is.

A new development:I tried to enter a USB network card, and then I got internet connection through the router.I now think it is my integrated network card, that doesnt support vista 64 bit.

I cant help, but I can confirm it is a vista problem only (although some people with vista and same mobo have no problems)but to add to the mixI have the same setupno internet connectionlinux on the same machine has a fully working interneti tried setting network negotiation to 100mb full duplex - as auto-negotiation sometimes failsI rebooted and it worked fine.......until i rebooted again as it hasnt worked sinceso something is definitely wrong with vista (as linux on the same system works fine)no help but hopefully some comfort
