No incoming network service permitted, Windows 7 Professional, Firewall off, outgoing fine, localhost access fine
Hi, I have Windows 7 Professional SP 1 on a Sony VAIO laptop, 64 bit core i7, upgraded from Windows 7 Home. Outgoing network requests seem to work fine, browsers, ldap clients, (some) VPN clients., but no incoming service appears to be allowed for any network type. Firewall is off for all networks (home, public, etc.). I've had only limited success with VPN clients - ShrewSoft seems to be the only client that even partially works, Cisco and NCP both connect and do nothing. Any local applications are only visible from localhost. For example, a netcat client nc -l -p 9999 that listens to port 9999 can be responded to via telnet localhost 9999 and it works fine; however telnet laptop 9999 (from another machine) will not work, nor does anything that must connect to a service on the machine. Has anybody seen this? I'm about to reimage this machine with linux :(

Just to be sure, are you using the IP address of the device in the "telnet laptop 9999" command or are you using a DNS/WINS hostname?
