No incoming fax notifications on clients using a fax server
I maintain a small business network, consisting of a Windows 2003 Server R2 Standard server and about 5 Windows 7 Professional clients. The server acts as an Active Directory server, and all the clients are members. The server has a modem, and has been configured as a Fax Server. Each of the clients have been configured to use the fax server, and all features (incoming and outgoing) are working fine. The problem is that the clients never receive notifications of incoming faxes. I can understand why notifications would be a bad idea in a large network, however the Windows Fax and Scan utility appears to have settings specifically for Incoming and Outgoing notifications AND sounds, which would be useful in my scenario. All notification and sounds options are enabled on the clients, but the only "notification" that is triggered on new incoming faxes is a small chime sound, which is only played when the Fax and Scan program is actually open. Is there a way to get notifications for new incoming faxes? The server has notifications in the form of pop up bubbles and a systray icon, which would be ideal for the clients.

Hi, please try to these following steps: 1 Click “Start”. 2 Click “Device and Printers”. 3 Click Fax. 4 Click “Tools”-----Options-----General, choose “Play sound when new messages arrive”. Or you can set delivery receipts to your E-mail. 5 Click Tracking and click Sound options. 6 Select the box “A fax is received”. As you user Windows 2003 Server and set the fax server, you can redirect Windows Server Forum for further help if any configuration should be set to notify client when new fax incoming. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windowsserver
