No handwriting recognition support
In the M3 release handwriting recognition was finally available in Swedish, even though it was an English install, i.e. it did not use Swedish MUI. In the beta there is only handwriting recognition for English. Anyone knows why this has been switched off and if it is possible toturn on? Itis my sole purpose for testing the beta, so I desperately need this to work.I have a tablet pc that I have not been able to put to full use because Swedish is my main language. I need to verify that it will work properly. Sure, I could revert to the M3 build, but it had several issues on my machine, all which seems to be resolved in the beta.Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, Windows 7 beta is just a test version, only English hand writing is supported in Tablet PC input panel. Arthur Xie - MSFT

Yes, so I noticed, but my question is; Why was it available in the (English) M3 build. I did use the handwriting recognition in that build. Why has it been removed? Isn't the purpose of a test version to test available functions. I can understand that there is no point in finalising the MUIs until at least the RC, but this is a function not related to MUI and local language versions. And again: it was there in the M3 build. Why has it been actively cut out? The sole purpose for me getting the beta was to test this functionality in a more stable (and official) build. OK, I could go back to M3 but what's the point in beta testing that? I have contacted customer support in Sweden, but they have no idea. Correct me if I'm wrong, but someone must be testing the Swedish (as well as other languages) handwriting recognition, right? I just want in on it.Is there no way to turn this on, or download an install to get the funtionality? This is the only bit I care about, otherwise I might just go back to running Vista. I look forward to 7 but I can live without it for now, if I can't be part of testing the handwriting recognition. That was the reason I got the Tablet from the beginning, and since Microsoft Sweden had incorrect information about language support (they stated that OneNote supported Swedish handwriting recognition) I got ahead and bought the machine in conjunction with the Vista release. Now that was misleading and they compensated me by providing a copy of Office 2007. That was nice, but really, the only thing I really want is access to Swedish handwriting recognition. And I know it's there - just let me be part of the testing, please! :(

Hi Martin, I apologize that we do not include Swedish language hand writing function in Windows 7 beta for testing. There are several reasons causes this behavior. I will make a bookmark for this thread so that our developers would check this information.Arthur Xie - MSFT

I do appreciate that, thanks. I am very curious as to what the reason is. I hope the functionality will not be excluded in the final release. As I said, it was there in M3... ...now it's gone...
