No error message if folder does not exist while pasting
Just accidently I came across this situation, I thought it might be helpful for the windows 7 team. Problem: I created a folder, copied it. now I renamed the same folder which I copied, nextly I tried pasting what I copied. To my amazement: I did not get any errors The renaming was not stopped. The Paste was not disabled It is the same with cut and paste as well. It is same when you copy, thendelete the folder after copying and try pasting.I tried the same inside WindowsXP Mode in windows 7 built-in VPC I get the Error MessageTitle: "Error Copying File or Folder"Message:"Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk"I think it would be better to have an errormessage in accidental situations like mine. Bennz - Ok... Just to see if I've got this straight...1.) Create a folder called "C:\Foo"2.) Right-click on C:\Foo and select Copy3.) Right-click on C:\Foo and rename it to C:\Bar4.) Right click on C:\ and select PasteNothing happens. No error message pops up. Interesting sidenote....Ifyou right-click on C:\ and select Paste Shortcut, it will pop up an error saying that you can't paste anything there - and asks if you want to paste a shortcut on the desktop. It will create a shortcut on the desktop for C:\Foo. If you click on it, it will say that the source no longer exists.Either way... That is odd behavior, possibly a bug..

Hi Benz, I Agree with the above post. I tested the process on my computer. Actually, there is nothing happens. No error message pops up and nothing paste on the computer. I think it is just a misoperation on the computer. Also the result will not affect the data loseon the computer. Betty
