Is your company using a proxy server? We used to use one and that was always an issue. Perhaps look at another computers settings for IE.I'm having trouble with connecting to our Novell server, the mappings won't reconnect, post is down a few. Did you do anything specific to get that to fly?

check and see if you have two network title's in your network sharing center if you do then change your connection name to something other then local area connection (e.g network or connection) this solved the issue for me i had a local connection only and two networks showed up one unidentified so i changed the connection name and here i am. for some reason this happens with upgrades from XP or Vista to windows 7 so far i tested it on Vista home premium Vista Business and XP home

What you are describing is my problem, but I only have one network (Named Network) in the Network and Sharing Center. It is set to a location of Work Network and the Access type is Local Only. There is a big red X between the Network and the Internet. Windows Network Diag says Could not automaticallydetect this networks proxy settings Detected Tried turning off automatically detect settings in IE but still was not able to connect. Thanks

Just so you know, I looked at my Network sharing and mine is set as Work Network and there is an X between Network and Internet as well. With the exception that my Internet does work. If I click the X, It does the troubleshooting and it states it couldn't identify the problem. I realize that doesn't really help you, I was just trying to let you know that on a working Internet connection I had the X between my network and the Internet.

hmm i would still try to rename the nic card in networking and shareing center disable it then click the link connect or disconnect it will list all of your nic cards rename the one you use to somthing other then where it says local area connection or local area connection 1 - etc .i had the same issue with the x from network to internet and it worked fine after i did this. i believe there is some glitch in the network setup with upgrades but it works fine for clean installs as far as i seen but i don't have access to any of my friends corp servers at the moment i ll have him set up a none production server on there corp network to test it out and give you feedback till then test my idea if it works great if not we are no worse for the time spent then when we started . ^^to poster above yes it wont help as stated in the beta download Microsoft does not support this beta and will not help you if any issues arise being beta means we need to find the solutions ourselves so the best thing to do in a issue where it try's to trouble shoot the issue is click cancel because there is no trouble shoot system set up in win7 yet.

You mentioned that you installed the Novell Vista Client. I believe there is a seperate client for the border manager product so you may need that to gain access to the internet.I would have a look at a vista machine to see what clients are installed as well as any settings for internet connections such as proxy servers.Gordonwww.longneckconsulting.com
