No Internet Access
This morning our Windows 7 Pro x64 computers are displaying a yellow triangle alert on the connection icon with message, "No Internet Access" then after several minutes a balloon tip appears saying "Additional log on information may be required, click to open browser." Our computers are domain members and have been since Win7 went final. We do not have the 0.0.0.0 route to delete We do not have Bonjour or quicktime installed. I have netsh int ip resest and ipconfig/flushdns with reboot. I have statically set IPs. Even though the alert, we can browse the Interet/network/domain/wan/etc . . . Our DHCP server is a 08R2 in a different vlan, but has been inplace since 08R2 went final. Two users who didn't reboot last night, do not have the alert. TIA, RandyHThanks!

Hi, To troubleshoot the issue, please perform the following steps. 1. Open Network Connections window and temporarily disable all other adapters except the Local Area Connections. 2. Upgrade the NIC driver. 3. Modify relevant Group Policy. a. Click Start menu and type “gpedit.msc” in the Search box. Right click it and click “Run as administrator” option. d. Open Computer Configuration -->Windows Settings -->Security Settings -->Network List Manager Policies c. On the right panel, please double click “Unidentified networks” d. Then you can select the option to consider the Unidentified networks as private and if user can change the location. Can you ping your DNS and Default Gateway? Maybe you have a firewall blocking this ping. If icmp protocol is blocked, you will be able to browse internet, but this message will appear. Se foi til, no se esquea de Marcar como Resposta. Cludio Costa - http://claudio-costa.blogspot.com

I updated the NIC drivers and disabled the wireless card - same result. Yellow Alert - No Internet Access - "Additional log on information may be required, click to open browser." I understand the GP edit, but why would I change "Unidentified networks" (We're on a 2003 Domain) and if I did change it, to what value are you suggesting it be changed too? Thanks!

Hi, After configuring the Group Policy in Windows 7, the network location Awareness will not search the network profile and will consider to the default settings in Group Policy when network profile cannot be located. Since the machine is in domain, please configure the value to Private. If above steps do not work, please also refer to the following article to troubleshoot the issue. If the issue persists, please upload the System Information and share the link to me. Windows 7 Connects to local network ok, but No Internet Access Thanks, NovakPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I made the change and still the Yellow Alert persists. I have also before opening this thread, followed all the steps from the referenced thread and nothing works as the thread suggests - this is becoming a popular issue and still no fix. Hi, After analyzing the information, I suggest you also perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Reset WinSock a. Click Start, click "All programs", and click "Accessories". b. Right-click "Command Prompt", and click "Run as administrator". If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. c. Please enter the following command, and press Enter. Netsh winsock reset d. A message stating "Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog" will appear. Please restart the computer. However, if the issue persists, please move on the next steps. 2. Restart the machine in Safe Mode with Networking and check the result. Does the alert persist in this mode? Thanks Novak, I ran the command and immediately the yellow alert went away. I rebooted and the yellow alert came back. Ran the command again, rebooted in Safe Mode - yellow alert present. Booted in to Windows - I don't know why I did this, but I enabled the Wireless card, connected to a wireless network, ran the command, rebooted and the yellow goes away after several seconds. When I disconnected from the wireless network and rebooted the yellow alert is present but goes away after several minutes. While the yellow alert is going away from my computer, I have ten others that I have to do this too and to potentially hundreds of desktops? I would like to understand under the hood what/why this is happening. my gut says it's vlan or router related, but can't connect those dots. My route print still has 0.0.0.0 netmask . . . as an update. After excuting netsh wincock reset - the yellow triangle will dissappear after I launch Outlook. It's obvious a lot of people are having this issue and that nothing on the surface is being down about it. i have to ask myself, why would i deploy win7 in the enterprise if it's not ready for enterprise level computing. Thanks!

We have a Cymphonix Web filter appliance in our environment. Turns out, www.msftncsi.com got caught in their filter database and was being blocked. According to Cymphonix support, they corrected the issue - removed www.msftncsi.com from their DB and pushed it out. I confirm - the Yellow triangle is gone. Thanks!
