No 8-bit Colors option for Remote Desktop (mstsc)
The Remote Desktop client (mstsc.exe) doesn't have the 8-bit Colors option anymore (15-bit seems to be the lowest). The VNC connection tomy officeis really slow and the networking staff doesn't plan to fix it anytime soon and usign 8-bit Colors was really helpful in this case. Can I enabled it with some command line parameter ?Any chance it could beback ?thanks...Rolando Ramirez

This will probably not work for you Rolando, since you do not appear to have administrative rights @ the server you connect to,but it is still possible to server-sided force the connection to be limited to 8-bits. (i use this as a workaround for the same problem)The current client is able to work with that. Good luck!Dave

THIS IS THE FIX!!
I had the same problem with the RDP sessions in WIndows 7. If you need to go lower than 15-bit in an RDP session than here is THE FIX!!
You have to edit the RDP separetly in notepad.
- Click on "Remote Desktop" and go to Options on the lower left corner
- Save as
- Save somewhere where you know how to get to it.
-Go to the saved RDP and open with notepad it will look like the following; Change the bpp to the bit count you want (it defaults to 24)
- than resave the changes. You will have to change the default opening program back to RDP from Notepad but thats the easy part. Cheers!!
