New Windows 7 cant see Airport Extreme nor Network Printer :(
Hi there, ive recently bought Windows 7 in the hope I could finally print to my printer attached via network cable to my Airport Extreme router. I never had any luck with Vista, but could print fine in XP. Alas it seems im having less luck now. My PC went online fine once I had installed my Killer M1 NIC driver, but Airport Utility will not find the router at all. When I did a search for my printer (Add A Printer) it just sits and scans with nothing to be seen. Strangely, when I look at my basic network information and click on Network it lists my Printer sitting there, but clicking on it merely takes me to an online page with ink levels etc. It seems my network is there ok, but W7 wont let me add network printer so I can actually use it. The issue with Airport Utility im guessing is an Apple issue with the software (latest update was June) but its wierd W7 sees my network, but not the router itself... Can any tech gurus help me out on this, printing was teh main reason I jumped from Vista, so its frustrating to be having the same old issues all over again. Its 64bit W7 ive installed btw. Thanks in advance. Nomadski

My printer is a HP Photosmart c6280 if it helps at all.

First, please download the latest driver from the following website. HP Customer Care > HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer > Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit) Important Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact information may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this third-party contact information. Install the driver. Most printer driver installation program can help us to install a network printer. During the installation, it may prompt that if you would like to install a local printer or a network shard printer. Then select the correct option. Enter the IP address of the printer and finish the installation. If the driver installation program does not help in this, follow the steps below to add a shard printer. 1. Click Start, click Control Panel and double click Devices and Printers.2. Click Add a Printer. 3. Select "Add a local printer". 4. Select "Create a new port". Choose "Local Port" as the type of the port.5. In the box "Enter a port name", type the address as the following format. \\[IP address of the printer] Then click Next. 6. Follow the instruction to finish the installation. During installing, choose the correct driver in the driver list. Arthur Xie - MSFT

Cheers Arthur, installing the driver (64 bit) let W7 find my printer automatically under Add a printer. I had read somewhere Windows 7 contained the driver by default, hence why I never tried downloading it (also the official HP driver on Vista used to crash!). Now just got to wait on Apple sorting its Utility software out so I can access my router options. Thanks again.
