New Vista laptop sends ns_registration every 10 sec
I have a new Vista laptop and discovered after installing Wireshark that it sends ns_registration every 10 sec to 224.0.0.252. Wireshark calls the Dst an "IPv4mcast_00:00:fc." Since 224-255 are reserved IPs, this is most strange, and I'd absolutely rather the machine not be doing this constantly. At byte 38 of the 76-byte packets is the string "ns_registration". The packets are always 76, exactly 10 sec apart, and are identical except a few bytes in the middle change. Source port varies...my current screen has them from 54499 to 65046.What is sending the packets and how do I stop this? Thanks.
