New Router Netgear N300 limited network connectivity, full internet access and email access,
My problem is with a Window 7 Dell Vostro Laptop using Win 7 Home Premium and successfully connected to a D Link DIR-655 Router for almost 9 months before the router failed. It was replaced with a Netgear N300 Router and will connect to the internet
every time but will not share files with my other network machines. The other machines are a Dell Inspiron 530 using Win Vista and another Dell Dimension 8200 using XP SP3. The Vista and XP Desktops can see each other and the Win 7 Laptop and share
files but it will not work the other way around. I have called Dell and Netgear and they tell me it's a Win 7 problem. The Netgear tech had me ping the machines from the desktops and they all pinged with no problem.
Please help me to find the solution so I can use my laptop on my network remotely. My printer doesn't print from the laptop either.
Thanks, Nick

Hi Nick,
Please let me know what error is received when trying to access the shared files? Make sure you set the permission to everyone. Also disable security software or firewall
on each side. If the issue persists, you can try the following tests.
1. Turn off password protected sharing under advanced sharing settings.
2. Enable guest account on Windows 7.
3. Modify group policy on each side.
Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Network security: LAN Manager authentication level
Please change to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated".
In addition, I will share the following post. Hope it helps.

Hi Nick,
Please update your network adapter driver from manufacture site. To access group policy, please click Start -> type:
gpedit.msc. After that, check the configuration settings. If the issue persists, please enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP for testing.
1) Go to "Control Panel -> Network and Internet ->Network Connections".
2) Right-Click on the connection and choose Properties.
3) Click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Version 4" in the list.
4) Click Properties, and then click Advanced.
5) On the Advanced TCP/IP settings windows, go to "WINS" tab.
6) Under NetBIOS setting, click "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP", and then click OK.

Most defintely, this was a Windows problem and nothing to do with the router software.
After downloading the SP1 update, the issue resolved itself with no other work whatsoever.
Typical Microsoft creating a problem and ducking it for a good length of time.
Problem: Resoved by downloading SP1 Win 7 UpdateNick Arena
