New Power Supply, computer now says no...
Hi, Been using Windows 7 beta for several months and its been great! However, the other day went to switch on computer... nothing. Found out it was the power supply that had failed (Hiper 580watt). Got a new one, fitted it. But can't get past the windows anim in the start-up (which never displayed for me correctly anyway). I did manage to get the login screen once and login but can't seem to get it to that again. Setup is: Dual screen, Asus board (Intel Core2Duo 6600), 2GB memory, 3 HD drives Any thoughts?

Greetings, unplugg any not essential component, specifically all those USB devices you might have connected. Keep the minimum plugged on the mobo as well. If you are able to run Windows, then the issue may be related with your new PSU. To check the minimum power you need, check here: Power Supply CalculatorHope this helps, regards.W7 Beta running on an AMD Semprom 3200+ (1800Mhz) with 2 Gbs of RAM and a built-in Nvidia 6100 VGA, and mate, it runs like a charm! And now on my VAIO FE31M Laptop.

Hi, Better news but you might repair your installation with the Windows 7 DVD in order to correct your prob of compatibility (mobo/video card)

Sorry to hear about the supply, which may have taken a component or two with it when it failed (Or the failed component gave the PS a heart attack)...Most respectfully I suggest that, Starting with the most basic tests (memory, cpu, very old OS, disk drive), you end up solving the puzzle (which, guessing the ending to the saga, is the built-in video)

In case you can't repair the installation with the Windows RE, next step is to test components. I would suggest to keep mobo+cpu+1 memory stick+vga+1hd and see if works.
