New Lenovo Thinkpad Edge has IE9 installed on setup...Need IE8...
The new Thinkpad Edge e520 my health care facility purchased came with IE9 installed on it... IE9 is not in the Uninstall or change a program section, it is in the Windows Features section. When you uncheck the IE9 and apply, it removes IE9, and leaves the system without any active browser... IE8 downloads will not install on the system as it tells me they are not for this version of windows...7pro.. IE8 only for vista/server2008... Need to have at least IE8 on the machine to access applications my facility uses for health care... Since this was an OEM load I contacted LENOVO and was told they could not help me... Is there any way to get IE8 back on this machine, or am I going to have to install a retail version of win7 to get IE8...(if IE9 has not already imbedded in that install.....)

Have you tried using IE 9's Compatibility View? Carey Frisch

If you are sure you need IE8, follow these steps: Open Programs and Features Clcik on View installed updates Click on Windows Internet Explorer 9 Click Uninstall I got a screenshot of the Installed Updates screen with IE9 selected: If I answered your question or helped you in any way do not forget to click on "Propose as answer", "Vote as helpful" and/or mark my question as the answer! I have tried compatibility view and other settings changes that have no effect.. The applications tech support will not help unless a supported browser is installed, which is 6, 7, or 8. as for the uninstall above, I had tried that, but after restarting the laptop, there was no browser available at all... I am thinking since this is a OEM load, the image has sp1 and IE9 installed, so no instances of any earlier IE will be present... And, IE8 will not install on Win7, so, I am looking at a clean load with a retail version of win7 that still has IE8... Which, after already purchasing the machine with win7 is not going to make me very happy... but LENOVO did not seem interested in helping at all..

Calasan, After going back and rereading your responce, I found that I missed the "installed Updates" section, and was in the windows features section.. So, the first time, I must have just "turned off IE9" instead of uninstalling... After uninstalling from the installed updates section, and a reboot, I now have IE8 back..... Thank You Very Much....
