Networking with Starband 360 and Vista?
Vista installed smoothly. When trying to install Starband 360 software to use internet it only partially installed and then has this error: Install DNE Error: Dneinst execution error while installing DNE, returncode - 2147024883. Any suggestions on how to get around or correct this problem so internet can be used through Starband 360?

Good grief. I cannot believe you did not get any replies... After a Year I was Googling with the same question about Vista and Starband. I know that the Starband web page says they are not compatible. I also assume (and hope) that ifone connected the 360 modem to an XP Computer then run it to a router, that one could use the router output to feed the new Vista computer. Wonder if you are still around and have any comments,,, or anyone else.

Allow me to help you both out with this and give you the straight up facts Starband Model 360 or sometimes called skyblaster 360 does not work at all with Vista, it is also not intended to be used in a networked environment wireless or otherwise it must always be directly and ONLY connected to the computer users have achieved mixed results with adding a second NIC to the main PC and using that to connect that computer to a router or switch so other users can share that same internet connection throught he 360. The reason this does not work in vista is because of the that wonderfully irritating Mission Control software that must run on the computer along with a direct connection to the 360 modem, that is how the connection to the starband network is achieved its a 2 part thing software and hardware, the 360 is close to 6 or 7 years old and at that time usually the only ones with a home network or the need to share an internet connection, especially one faster than Dial Up were those that worked in that field or the extremely geeky or technologically savvy/avant I mean were talking late 1999 or early 2000 if not further back than that. If you really want something that will work with Vista and provide that capability to use in a networked environment I suggest that you consider the new Skyedge with the Nova service the Skyedge is specifically designed/ intended to be shared and all the configuration for the modem itself is through a web based interface I.E you open you browser and go to 192.168.0.0.1 and do your configuring there just like a normal cable or dsl modem or modern day routerhope this helps
