Networking problem using Virt PC 2007 on Win 7 host
Hi, I am trying to use a new machine running Win7 Pro to host a couple of servers (this is home environment) using Virtual PC 2007. The problem I am getting is that even though VPC2007 is installed and I have configured the virtual client, from the client, I an ping the host, I can ping the default gateway but no further. I can ping the client from the host. All seems to be ok except for external comms. The NIC is setup on the host to be the hosts NIC (not NAT etc). I have seen a few posts (inc http://www.brianpeek.com/blog/archive/2009/05/02/windows-virtual-pc-and-the-microsoft-device-emulator.aspx) which seem to describe the issue I have but this does not resolve my issue. Any ideas anyone?

What does your home network look like? How do the machines get their network config? You vms should behave just like any machine on your home network. If your home network uses DHCP, the vms should get their network config from that and just work. Do an ipconfig /all on the host and a guest and see if anything is different (apart from the IP address). Bill

Hi, Please also check the networking settings of the virtual machines referring to the following: Networking and Using Windows XP Mode Configure networking for virtual machines Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
