This is a new condition, as of this week. I did just perform big time updates, are there any known issues?Any help would be great. My laptop is my school computer and I can't have it out of network1 person got this answerI do too

Conditions get worse. I was likely mistaken when I posted it before but, computer C can't reach computer A either.Someone, anyone?

jgsavage, Sounds like you don't have Filesharing enabled on Computer A. Check the exceptions in Windows Firewall also.Viza

I wish it was that simple. File sharing enabled on all units, simple file sharing is offTCP/IP enabledClient for MS networks installedAll firewalls are off (router is firewalled)Net Bios enabledIt's funny. Sometimes I can see computer A when I open the Add Network Place dialog, but it isn't accessible. Other times it doesn't show up. No none of the folders show, nor does the printer.

jgsavage, What are the users you are logged in on each machine? Same usernames and passwords?Viza

different users, only one is password protected. I thought of that but also figured that since this is a new condition, and everything worked before, that it might not be an issue.

jgsavage, If you were to open up an explorer window on Computer B and in the Address bar type in "\\Computer A" do you get prompted for creds? Also have you checked the event logs on Computer A after a failed connection to see if it tells you anything?Viza

I tried to address the other PC. I get a message that says "wondows cannot find '\\jimsxp' check the spelling...." When I tpe the same for computer C from computer B, I get a window with shared files. Here's something interesting... In the event log, there s an event that says "The name "NETWORK :1d" could not be registered on the interface with IP address 192.168.2.2 (computer A). The machine with IP address 192.168.2.3 (computer B) did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.Could this be a symptom of the problem?

jgsavage, What if you try the same thing but instead of \\jimsxp try \\192.168.2.2. If that seems to work, then we need to figure out why your machine name isn't being claimed. Are your IPs on the machines set statically or do you get them from DHCP? If they are static check to make sure your subnet masks are correct. I saw somewhere that the subnet mask being wrong may cause this event log entry.Let me know how that works for you.Viza

Still no luck. IP's are set to automatic and addressing computer A by its IP doesn't help either

go to network properties for Computer A and install IPX/XPS/Net bios strictly only for Network card sharing other resources
