Networking issue Windows 7
When upgrading our dell studio, our IP networking ceased to work. It appears that the IP address that the 1397 WLAN card gets when going to my router is out of the IP address range for my router. So, my gateway is 192.168.0.1 and I get a IP address that is not in the 0.1 network. When I do an IPconfig from the CMD prompt there is a field that says autoconfiguration IPv4 address......: 169.254.175.227<Preferred> I don't know if that is making the adapter look for the wrong gateway. Do you have any idea how to resolve this issue?

From your description, you are receiving an automatic IP address (169....) Make sure the DHCP service on your router is up and has sufficient ip addresses for all the PCs on your network. If DHCP is set up correctly, it may be the settings on your Dell Studio.. The simplest solution is to manually set the Dell Studio's IP address to something which is withing the range of your router's subnet. You would need to provide more information for a precise solution to be worked out.

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please ensure that your NIC driver is up-to-date. 2. Upgrade your routers firmware. 3. Please try the following method: Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers If there is another wireless network, please also check if it can be accessed. Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
