Networking between Windows 7 and Mac suddenly stopped working
I've had a Mac (Snow Leopard) running on my network for nearly 2 years without problems. Suddenly last week, the Mac and the Windows 7 PC are unable to access files on each other. The Windows 7 PC shows the Mac as being on the Network, but when I try to
connect to it I get error code 0x80070035 "The network path was not found." Yet, it had been found for months prior. Also, I can access the Apache server running on the Mac, so it's not that the network itself isn't working.
Similarly, on the Mac, I used to be able to connect to the Windows 7 data by using Connect to Server from the Finder window and then selecting the Windows 7 PC. Now when I attempt that operation, I get a message informing me that the connection failed.
All of this has just started happening in the past week or so? Does anyone know--has there been some kind of patch or software update to Windows 7 or Snow Leopard that might have caused this sudden problem? I appreciate any insight.

Did you apply any patch on the Win7 machine? If yes what is the Kb no?

The last update applied was Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2541014) on May 25, 2011. I am not sure what date this problem began, but it was definitely after May 25. Thanks for mentioning this.

Hi,
According to your description, I suggest to perform these tests to troubleshoot the issue:
1 Login with
Clean Boot
on Windows 7
2 Temporally disable firewall
3 User \\Ip address to access Mac
4 Turn off network discovery and turn on again
5
register DNS via command:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
If the issue persists, you can try to perform a system restore to fix the issue.
Hope that helps.
