Networking 2 Windows 7 Machines
I got two W7 Machines that I am trying to place on a network. Problem is that they are not on the same IP network. All the other machines (windows XP Pro) have static IP Adresses and work fine. So I assigned the two W7 machines static IP
addresses. They were able to access everything all the XP machines can access, except the internet.
What do I need to do to have them keep a static IP address and yet be able to connect to the internet?
Turning off the firewall doesn't work.

In your static IP settings, did you specify the correct Default Gateway and DNS settings? Compare those settings to another working machine on the same subnet.

I copied everything from a working XP machine, and only changed the IP address' last number to prevent duplicates in the TCP/IPv4 settings. The DNS I grabbed from the IPCONFIG /ALL before I entered the static IP.
Not currently near the machines so I can't post the IPCONFIG /ALL.

Sounds like the IP settings should be correct based on your description, but if I would recommend that you validate that and provide an update.
Test whether you are able to reach your gateway (via PING is fine) and whether you are able to resolve host names (use NSLOOKUP).

Both pinging my Gateway and NSLOOKUP failed.
this is the information that I got off of a working systems.
IP: 192.168.50.15
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.5.1
DNS: 64.132.94.25 & 216.68.4.10
I know that it is something that I am missing here.

If everything else is working correctly in scenario #2 (static address), try changing your subnet mask to 255.255.0.0; your internet gateway is on a different subnet - 192.168.50.x vs. 192.168.5.x and a netmask of 255.255.255.0 isn't allowing them to communicate.
If you don't want to do that for whatever reason, the 3rd number in your IPv4 address needs to be 5, the same as your gateway's, not 50.

I used a 162.130.128.97 & 162.130.10.9 as the DNS for the first 4.
This one I used the correct 162.130.128.97 & 162.130.10.9 as the DNS

Then your gateway or DNS addresses are wrong. Instead of speculating on which, can you post an IPCONFIG /ALL from one of the
working XP machines?

I am not currently in the vicinity of the PCs. But I did happen to write down this about the Working XP machine:
IP Address:192.168.50.15
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.5.1
DNS: 64.132.94.25 & 216.68.4.10

Ok, so I got it now. I made 2 mistakes when I wrote down the information I needed.
1. I forgot to 0 on the third number of the Default Gateway. Was 92.168.5.1 but should have been 92.168.50.1
2. I forgot yet another 0 on the primary DNS server's last number. It was 64.132.94.25 but should have been 64.132.94.250
After correcting these two errors I got the network up and running while maintaining access to the internet.
Thank you for all the help.
