Networking: slow network access per thread
Hi!I'm using two separate computers, both with Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The problem is, that on one of the computer downloading is slow, the maximum speed I get is 150kbyte/sec. I found out however that this is only true for one thread, so if I start separate threads to download, all threads will have this maximum 150kbyte/sec speed. This is not application dependent, because this happens in each and every application I use (IE, Firefox, scp, file shares, etc).Strangely the other computer works fine, and under Vista both computer work fine. The specification of the two computer is different, but the installed applications are the same on both.

There is a speed setting available on the device manager/ethernet adapter/Properties pages. 'auto-negotiate' may not be what you want. I would start at 10mbps half-duplex, and work your way up to what works fastest. I would guess it to be a driver compatibility problem.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP
