Networkcard is connected (by cable) but there is no local network
This is the first time for me to ask here something, so I hope to be on the right place. I have a system with bootharddisks which I can replace, on each HD is Windows-XP-SP3. There is 1 HD (and only 1, so the problem must be in the software on that particular HD) on which the next problem occurs: I'm connected to the network, but there is no network. This system worked fine until a few days ago and suddenly there is no network anymore. Everything seems to be OK, I can ping to localhost, I got the (manual filled in) ip-numbers by ip-config, there are no error messages in the networkdevices, not in the properties of the network, nowhere. But I cannot ping the router (time-outs appear)!! And so nothing will works over the network. I did a new upgrade of XP over the system, just the same error. If I work as administrator or another user: it doesn't matter at all. I close the firewall function. It's sure that tcp/ip 4 is installed and not 6. I close all unnecessary services: the error is still there. Who has the right hint?? This question is made on my laptop (wireless) over the same router. Valakinek in Holland1 person needs an answerI do too

All of the settings look good except for the WINS server. A home network doesn't have a WINS server, so remove that setting. But I don't think it's causing the networking problems. Try resetting the Windows Sockets interface: open a command prompt window, type netsh winsock reset , and restart the computer. If that doesn't help, please post again and include a copy of the route table, from the command route print .Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional

Dear Steve, Thanks for your reaction on my problem, you were the only one!! Entering a WINS-server was one of my (desperate) actions 'to try something' I have it deleted now and, of course, nothing changed I also printed the route command like you asked me, its here below: =========================================================================== Interfacelijst 0x1 ........................... Do you still have any suggestion? Otherwise I wil start with a complete new and fresh installation! Thanks in advance, cordial greetings from Valakinek
