Network with ethernet access for a pc and wireless for laptop is not showing shared folders.
Problems setting up a network. This is what's going on: I got two computers, one desktop (with Windows XP) and one laptop(with windows Vista). For Internet access the desktop connects directly to the Wireless router (belkin) with a CAT5 cable while the laptop is just wireless. I have information on my desktop that I would like to access on my laptop. So I changed the settings of those folders so that they would be "shared folders". And also I did the Network wizard in Windows XP. Then, I tried to get to those files through my laptop by accessing the network but I don't see them at all. I don't even see the computer. However, if I connect the laptop through its ethernet port to the wireless router I can see all the files that I need. But of course that doesn't help me because I have to run a cable from the router to the laptop. Do you know how I could solve this? Can I have a network setup through the wireless router so that one computers connects directly and the other wirelessly?I even tried to do both computers wireless but it is still not working. The only way it works is if both computer are connected through the ethernet port. Thank you very much If you need any additional details, please let me know.
