Hi,I installed Windows 7 ultimate 32bits on a Vista based system (HP Slimline s3400f)with a new hard drive (clean install), but I cant get the WPA-Personnal wireless network connected. It was working fine with Vista.My router (Linksys WRT160N, firmware v1.02.4-CA) is set to WPA-Personnal as security typewithAES encryption (also tried TKIP, same issue...), but my wireless adapter detect a WEP network security type. WhenI try to enter my WPA security key, i receive the "Possible Security Key Mismatch" error message.I tried to manually createthe WPAWireless connection in the Network and Sharing center, then i received the error message "The setting saved on this computer for the network does not match the requirements of the network".The wireless adapter is only B/G capable, soI also tried to change the router "Network mode" (which also support N) to Mixed-B/G, or G-Only,but the problem remains the same.When i downgrade the router security setting to WEP 128bit, everything works fine, so it might not be a wireless adapter driver problem. Could it be an adapter config problem? I didnt modify the default adapter setting so far...Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.Best regards

I just checked the HP web site for the model that you mention and it does not have drivers for windows 7.http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3688725&lc=en&cc=au&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=auWhen you did a fresh install did you download the drivers for vista and installed them or did you use windows update in windows 7 and it installed the driver in question? some vista drivers may work with windows 7, but the functionality cannot be trusted as in your case. Also, sometimes with branded computers such as HP it is advised to get the driver from the manufacturer (such as HP or Dell) rather than the manufacturer of the device.

Hi AjayBerry,As you noticed, there's no Windows 7 drivers for the HP Slimline s3400f, so all drivers are genericand from Microsoft Update. I didnt try any Vista drivers so far... I'll try and keep all posted.

Well this kind of behaviour does seem like a driver issue. It may be worth while to try out the Vista driver and see if that will solve the problem. If it does then you know it is the driver for sure. Im my case the drvier for my Dell AIO printer from windows 7 update did not work. so I had to install the vista drvier which works quite nicely. For me what has fixed the issue multiple times is to simply remove the network from the preferred list, then go ahead and change the router security level from WPA to WPA2 with AES encryption. I have seen this in a Linksys and a Netgear environment with both native and external cards, and it resolved the issue each time.
