Network redirected folders made available automatically

Our users Desktop and Documents folder are being redirected to a network share. The physical path is H:\Users\%username%\Desktop and H:\Users\%username%\Documents.

NTFS Permissions are:

  • SYSTEM - FA
  • Creator Owner - FA
  • %username% - FA
  • domain admins - FA

On H:\Users we have two shares defined: users$ and users2$ with share permissions: everyone - FA.

In the User group policies, we have these settings concerning offline files:

  • Do not automatically make all redirected folders available offline - Enabled;
  • Specify administratively assigned Offline Files - \\fs\users2$\%username%\Desktop.

This is the only folder we want to be available offline! All other folders may not be made available offline. Nevertheless in Sync Center on a users pc \\fs\users$\Documents is being made available offline as well, although there is no setting being set to make this location available offline.

What is causing this?

Hi GeoffreyBeulque,

The main issue is to enable offiline for the specific folder and the others should not be enabled, right?
Please configure the following group policy:
User Configuration\ Policies\ Administrative Templates\ System\Folder Redirection\Do not automatically make specific redirected folders available offiline
Enable this group policy and check the other options except the "Desktop" option.
Here is a link for reference:
Disable Offline Files on Individual Redirected Folders

Please run "rsop" to whether the group policy has been deployed.
