 using WIN8.1    and  I am joined to  my domian

When mapping  a drive and using BROWSE  I only get a very limited listing of network resources....

Any idea how to have this show the complete list of network servers/computes and all that ?

Is file and network sharing enabled. ?

Also check server service. 

You can turn on from here : Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings

According to your description, it is related to the permissions.

On the server, Access-based Enumeration allows users of Windows file servers to list only the files and folders to which they have access when browsing content on the file server.

Access-based Enumeration filters the list of available files and folders on a server to include only those that the requesting user has access to.

I think you have no permissions to access all resources.So, you can see only files and folders that they have access to on a file server.

I suggest you contact your system admin to check it.

I am the netadmin. this is the 3rd tablet  have setup this week and this is the only one that behaves this way......

Just fired it up and checked .....and today thebrowse isworking just fine...more WIN8.1 "magic"
