Network limited connection issue
I month ago I switch from WinXP Pro to Vista Enterprise. I installed all windows updates including SP1. Everyting worked fine. However a week ago the network connection started to trouble. When I'm downloading data it suddenly says - "Limited Connectivity" and the yellow ! appears in the network icon. I tried to turn off TCP/IPv6. I used DHCP but now I explicitly set the IP address. I'm behind a router (Vigor 2700). UPnP is active. I have two more computer on my network - WinXP Pro and these work just fine! The only solution is to disable my network adapter and re-enable. This solves the problem for 5-10 minutes and again appears. It is really annoying and I'm tired of this :-( Since I installed Vista I had a lot of problems with my OpenVPN connection, currently I can't connect to my post server via Exchange it works only using IMAP, etc. I'm thinking to switch back to my WinXP but it is a 1-2 days of work what I can't afford in the company. But if nothing helps I will have to :-(((( Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Abyss

Based on my research (spent whole day) this is a well know issue. Lot of people have this issue. Even worst this issue is here from RC2 of Vista !!!I'm surprised that no solution was found for this yet. I'm pretty sad about this. Where are the experts ?! Since my Outlook can't download the e-mails from my company. I had pretty big problems to get Open VPN work. Another copy of Windows folder is "deployed" on my D disk?! My TV card never worked with Vista. I do not see reason to stay with this OS, where almost all stuff should be hardly resolved - each issue analyzed for day and then pray for solution. It looks like Vistaequals to WinMillenium. Just aUI change with non-tested and non-stablecore. I'm going back to WinXP which was MUCH stable !!! GRRRRRR

Hi, Please understand although Microsoft have fully test Windows Vista before releasing it, some third party manufacturers may have not provided updates for their products (including both hardware and software products) to seamless work with Windows Vista. Regarding the TV card problem, I suggest you check it whether has compatibility problem with Windows Vista. Windows Vista Compatibility Center http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/ Regarding another copy of Windows is on D disk issue, I would like to let you know Windows Vista change the drive setting for security, the current Windows Vista installed drive will be mark as C drive by default. Regarding the networking problem, I have the following suggestions. Suggestion 1: Disable Receive Window Auto-Tuning ========================================= 1.Open up an elevated command prompt. 2.Enter the following command to disable auto-tuning netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled 3.Reboot the computer to test this issue again. If you found that this doesnt fix your problem, you can turn it back on. 1.Open up an elevated command prompt. 2.Enter the following command to enable auto-tuning netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal Suggestion 2: Ping DNS server ========================================= Can you ping DNS server when the problem occurs? If not, please let me know the detail error message. Thanks. Suggestion 3: Update network adapt driver. ========================================= 1.Click to open Device Manager. 2.If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Allow. 3.Double-click the category containing your device driver, and then double-click the name of the device. 4.Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. Does it work? Hope it helps.
