Network issue
I had to replace my old modem as it kept crashing. Now the PS3 (which we watch our network movies through) and my laptop dont sync. The network didnt change for my partner as he has a desktop computer and mine is a wireless laptop connection. I have tried connecting the laptop to the modem with a network cable and nothing shows on the PS3. i have made sure that folders are shared etc but its the newtork that shows nothing in the Network and Sharing area. The pins and access codes have all been entered right and its still not doing anything. I tried a new network, a new sharing system, a router, new cabling and the PS3 comes up with network error (000000) and sometimes a DLNA protocol error. I really want to watch things from my computer on the PS3 as copying things to a USB or DVD and then watching it is driving me crazy. Everything was absolutely fine until the new modem was connected. One thing that gave me a glimmer of a happy dance today when i was playing around with it, was when i made a new network connection - everything on the old network showed up - my partners computers, the PS3, the large external memory box... so i tried to watch something and it went for 5 mins and then just shut down and nothing has worked from there. My partner says there is a solution but its long and complicated and he is too busy with his online games to fix it. i suppose that if it was he whou couldnt use the network system then we still wouldnt be having issues. his suggestion of the network cable clearly has done nothing! i have windows 7 and run ms office 2007 (if thats important). it is virus free and up to date with software advances

Hi Lolly7777, Thanks for the post! Based on your description, it seems the issue is related with your PS3. Go to Network settings, turn off the Media servers and PS3, then turn on them. Then check if it works. Here's a similar issue as yours: http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/2317518?start=0&tstart=0 If it doesn't work, please also contact your PS3 manufacture for more research.
