Network icon is wrong
Here's pretty much the same problem as I have: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/6b6d63f4-981c-4ac3-a530-5da66ee5587f
But it won't fix with an update of a driver. (It's just a brand new laptop)
Now when I start, I see he's searching, he shows for just a millisecond that he has connected and then immediately gives the icon of "there are networks available".
Anyone who has an idea? Googled it already and tried allot of stuff, but nothing helped. But let's say I'll try everything here. ;)
Thanks!

Running it at the moment. Is it normal that it doesn't work from the run box? I had to run it from cmd...
Thanks

Hi,
Please restart Network Location Awareness service for a test.
Also, you may boot in Safe Mode with Networking for a test and make sure the driver of network adapter is latest version. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. No other issues till now ;)
@juke
Restarting the service shows the correct icon for about a second and then flips to the icon "not connected- there are connections available" (I've my system in dutch so if it's not completely correct, my bad ;D )
Booting in safe mode makes no difference.
And re-installed the network device with automatic search -> no positive result
Manually with downloaded driver --> no result either.
I've an atheros AR5B97 and acer aspire 7750G

Hi,
Can you access the Internet or ping a public DNS when the issue occured?
It seems that you have not properly obtained a IP address. If your issue still persists, please post result of ipconfig/all here.

Hi,
Yeah I can do everything, just the icon is wrong. Normally I don't bother it, because it's just an icon. But when I try finding computers in my network, it sometimes fails...
I've it on any network I join.
Now, I've the icon like I'm connected by lan. But still not the wireless connection...

Okay now I've finally got windows to give me a decent explanation or error code, like you want to name it :D
Again, my system is in dutch so I'll do my best to translate :)
"There is possibly a problem with the driver for the wireless network adapter"
"The ip-protocolstack could not be automatically connected to the networkadapter"
So still, don't know what to do... I also can't find for sure the best network driver. Do someone of you maybe know the correct atheros driver site?
Or give me a link to it? My network driver is mentioned above..
Thanks!
Timothy
