Network connections etc.
Windows 7 was started on a drive that was cleared of all data. All other hard drives switched off for safety. No problems once I persuaded it that it WAS able to partition the drive. Runs within itself, no problem, not sure I like the presentation, but may get used to it. Glad the infuriating "My Computer", "My Documents" etc. have gone. Saves a lot of work deleting them from the Registry. Network handling is another matter. It connected easily, no setting up required, found and named the router. Did not find the other Windows XP box running on the network, but found my Wife's computer, which was switched off. Called it "Louises Laptop", probably clever but the computer has its own name and is a desktop. In addition the network itself has a name, which everything else finds, but not this programme. For me a serious point, the word Louises is not English, does Windows 7 not know about the possesive apostrophy? As I run a site campaigning for correct use of English, this "syntax error" will, if not corrected, be enough to persuade me to continue with Linux. Regards, Ron Lebar.
