Network connection severed.
My OS is Win 7, Pro. I've got two machines (A an B ) LAN connected. I had no problem establishing the connection which is two way. Just yesterday I was able to access B from A. This morning, out of the blue instead of a window with user ID and PW for me to enter when I click on the compute name for A on machine B I got another window. It says: [Window Title] Network Error [Main Instruction] Windows cannot access \\ALEXB-T [Content] You do not have permission to access \\ALEXB-T Contact your network administrator to request access. For more information about permissions, see Windows Help and Support Now, that window says that a possible problem may be network discovery turned off. I checked-it is on on both machines. Nothing changed. I was able to access the other machine last night. One possible cause for this mess may be the fact that I accidentally clicked on Home Network last night and it seems to activate the HN. I did not even set it up I did not get the PW. This morning I clicked on that option again, got the PW and could not navigate himself thru the options--too boring and I don't have time. The wizard is unclear, how to attach another machine to the HN. So I "left it." Besides I consider this machine and (the whole LAN) a work computer and originally the network has been set up as work network. I think it is a bug. Network handling has improved greatly in Win 7 as compared to Vista let alone XP but still it is hard to navigate, there are ambiguities that had to be interpreted and like this eample shows there are obvious bugs. What shall I do? Right now I still have an access from B to A. I need to transfer some files between teh machines and this is the only way but I am afraid for the future. I need a resolution. Thanks.
