Network connection keeps dropping periodically
This seems to have disappeared from the forum, but the problem still isn't fixed. I have an ADSL internet connection that worked fine under Windows Vista. Since the update to Windows 7, the internet connection keeps dropping periodically. The onboard nic on this HP a1730n is an unlisted Marvell one, 10/100 Marvell 88EC031, driven by the Nvidia chipset and nforce 430. None of them have bothered to provide updates for Windows 7. I switched to a D-Link DGE-530T network card, but though it drops the connection less, it still drops the connection periodically. There is no Win 7 update from D-Link, but there is Win 7 driver from Microsoft. (I'm not pleased to see Microsoft had it done by Marvell, as that suggest Marvell may have repeated a problem.) Anyway, I have the latest one installed. As indicated, the network connection keeps dropping. Still looking for an answer to fix things. Denise Moore

Denise: Not sure what you've done so far in the way of diagnostics, but could you please attempt booting into "Safe Mode With Networking" and test your connection and see if the problem persists. Often this type of issue can be cause by third party software, and sometimes this procedure will prevent those types of apps from loading. You may also want to try a clean boot type of experiment you can find that information here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135let us know how you're doing.

Hi, Did you update the network card driver to latest version? Hi, If the above suggestions do not work, you can try temporarily disable IPV6 as below: 1. Open Network and Sharing center. 2. Click Change adaptor settings in the left pane. 3. double click the Local Area Connection 4. Click Properties button. 5. Uncheck the IPV6 option. 6. Click OK. If it does not work, please perform the following steps: 1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter. 2. Expand Network Adapters category. 3. Right click on the Network adapter we are using and choose Properties. 4. Click Power Managemnet tab. 5. Uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power 6. Click OK. Does it work now?Vivian Xing - MSFT

Hi - thanks Vivian. The first solution that you posted worked for me (unchecking IPV6).
