Network computers (winXP) auto-disconnects from Server 2008 after a few hours of idle.
i have a school network with about 14 computers in the admin block all connecting to a Server 2008. this whole year everything ran smoothly. until someone decided to change the server 2008 password. after the password change everything started going wrong. most of the issues are fixed but i still have the problem when users do not log off the workstations they "loose" connectivity to the server. and it asks them for a username and password. if they enter it everything works again. if they restart the workstation everything works. unfortunately teachers in South Africa are lazy (when it comes to computers) and do not want to log of or shutdown the workstations. what i have tried is to remove all the mapped drives disconnect from domain restart and reconnect. didn't work. ran the command net config server /autodisconnect:-1 didn't work. i then saw that my server and router was sending out IP's to the workstations so i disabled the DHCP from the router but that also didn't work. is there anything else i could try to resolve this problem? any help would be appreciated.

1. Let us discuss technical aspects of problem only. (Other aspects are your private opinion and does not help to solve the problem.) 2. Describe your problem better. We do not see what you have, the server, network and workstation configuration. Is it workgroup or active directory. 3. Are there any event log traces. 4. What is your targer system configuration.
