Network browsing causing explorer to hang
I`ve experienced a problem which causes windows explorer to hang which I believe is caused by Network. My windows 7 beta is connected to a windows 2003 server through a switch, both with manually set IPs. The problem arrises when Ive been connected to the server for a while with the explorer connected to a subfolder at the server. This causes explorer to hang. Ive set windows 7 beta to remember the username and password to the resource. Ive also noticed if I open a new windows to the same resource, the other explorer windows thats unresponsive responds again. This behavior is quite frustrating, as it happens me quite a lot. Is it possible to, somehow, solve this issue from happening? As long as windows 7 beta is set to recall the credentials, I believe this shouldnt occur. (It seems to be to be a issue caused by credentials to the resource)

Im not having the same problem with Windows Vista.Does anyone have a clue if its something only affecting windows 7 beta atm, or the communication with win server 2003 vs win7beta?

I have a similar problem, I can not even access my Windows 2003 R2 server. Both my W7 and 2003 machine are on the same switch with manually set IP addresses and in the same subnet. When I try to access the share on the 2003 which is password protected my explorer hangs and eventually I have to kill it and restart the explorer process. The machines are not in a domain and the network is connected with a multitude of other computers so I have to have a password protected share. The same happens whenever I try to access any password protected share on any machine. If the share is open then I can see it and access it just fine.Any help would be apreciated.

My problem is more similar to OP, in that it can access the drives early on after logging on, but then has issues later.I have made the problem less so by altering my logon/net_map cmd file - it was from XP and I'd had the net use command with /persistent:no, which was removed and made it quicker to access shares (usually for watching videos), but then today I was sorting out some mp3s for the car and tried to play a folder with WMP and didn't work - this then caused explorer to stop working on the network share/s, as well as the mouse (extra function) buttons not working. This isn't usually a problem for the scripts run at start/end of session, but it is annoying when you want to watch something on the server (95% of my multimedia is on there).2003 Server, network switch (gigabit), DHCP reserved IP (needed for file sharing apps through router), same user/pass local and server accounts.
