If you check the properties of a wireless connection you will see a hidden security key and under it a check box to show it. I'm not on Windows 7 because it failed the dhcp client... I'll check if I find something later. sorry antonio

That's very interesting. Perhaps it's because we're using the RC version and it will be removed in the RTM?I've checked the 'Show characters' box in Vistaand it cannot be ticked.

My query is that. once the admin entered the security key in to the system and working properly. there after admin will hide the char by changing the tick on hide character.. close the config window ok.. After that users cannot see/unhide the hidden security key. This is working in Xp and Vista but not in Windows7. Is there any option in windows7?

Useless to say that wep isn´t the best way to secure networks. WEP can be cracked easily. I saw successful attacks within 60 seconds (if you own the required equipment). back to topic: Users - also with user rights - are able to read stored wlan settings from configured computer with well known tools. Copy the HexKey and enter it if required. Router will accept it - knowing the "real" password is not required to enter a secured wlan. So there is no way to "hide" - user will get it, if he wants it. If users laptops are in managed domain you can deploy wireless settings via gpo also for wlans outside the company. In this way you skip entering the password in front of the user.
