Network adaptor missing after system restore...
I have recently restored my old XP system due to a massive system failure. The restore to a brand new, reformatted hard drive, went fine, except that now I cannot connect to the internet. Error diagnosis indicates I am missing my "network adaptor". It seems to me that this should have been on one of the restore CD's I got with my computer, but I have gone through all of them and can't find anything else to restore. Since, I can't connect to the internet, is there some other way to get a network adaptor? And how do I know if I have the right one?

Thank you, haaruun. As it turns out, there was another restore disk I had trouble loading and had set aside. I went back to it and was able to find a folder named "DRIVERS" on it and moved it to my system and that did the trick. Thanks for your response, though. I appreciate it.

I have this exact same problem i have a compaq presario s4020wm that i replaced a hard drive in for a friend of mine and its doing the exact same thing, in the device manager it doesn't show any network adapter at all but when i go to view and hit show hidden it shows:network adapters:direct parralel, microsoft tun miniport adapter, wan miniport(ip), wan miniport(ip)-packet sheduler miniport wan miniport(l2tp), wan miniport(pppoe) wan miniport(pptp) i feel like it has loaded wrong drivers somehow and it obviously isnt working properly i'd like to find the proper drivers so i can get it working if indeed it is using the wrong ones its got integrated network card so i'm sure its the original any help would be greatly apreciated, upon reading this post i went on my restore disks and found the driver.cab file and extracted it to system folder but doesnt workthanks in advance
